We are asking the Government to:

• Put GPs at the heart of the 10-Year Health Plan; 
• Restore and protect continuity of care by rebuilding the family doctor model;
• Secure fair funding for general practice within the wider NHS;
• Give GPs the freedom and autonomy to do their jobs in the best interests of patients.

Patients with serious health conditions or who are vulnerable must see the same GP, yet the latest Government plans risk weakening the family doctor model. The public backs continuity of care, particularly for those with long-term conditions, but the Government’s 10-Year Health Plan risks accelerating the decline of local GP services and permanently undermining the “family doctor” model. Many patients say it has become harder to see the same GP over multiple appointments.

Our family doctors are the backbone of community healthcare. Without them, the whole system suffers. It is time to take decisive action to rebuild and strengthen general practice within the NHS, ensuring the continuity and quality of healthcare that every UK citizen deserves.
