Sack David Hoare for describing the Isle of Wight as an inbred, british, white, poor ghetto

The Issue

The Chair of Ofsted recently had this to say about the Isle of Wight during a Teach First conference in Leeds. His comments were published in the Times Educational Supplement on Friday 5th August. "You don't know we have a ghetto seven miles away, British, white, poor living on the Isle of Wight." He went on to claim; "There is a mass of crime...there has been inbreeding." The Isle of Wight has suffered for many years due to the fact that the economic and social problems we face have not been recognised by successive governments. We are one of the poorest wards in the UK and desperately need investment, funding and support that reflects the issues we face. These comments are appalling and evidence Mr Hoare's complete lack of knowledge of the Isle of Wight, its education system and unique social problems. He has insulted everyone who lives here. This is not the attitude we would expect from the Chair of Ofsted and we have no trust or confidence in him following his slanderous allegations. We demand that he is removed from his position.
