Reassess Housing of Convicted Child Offenders Near Families in Falkirk

Reassess Housing of Convicted Child Offenders Near Families in Falkirk
The Issue
As concerned residents and parents in the Falkirk area, we are calling on Falkirk Council to urgently reassess its decision-making around housing individuals with serious convictions for offences against children in close proximity to families and young children.
It has come to our attention that a person with a known history of child-related offences has recently been rehoused in a family-focused neighbourhood — without consultation, risk communication, or appropriate safeguarding transparency.
This has caused widespread anxiety among parents and residents, and raises serious questions about how community safety is being prioritised in housing placements.
We believe that:
Families have a right to feel safe in their own homes and communities.
Safeguarding must always come before housing convenience or administrative ease.
The Council should not place high-risk individuals into environments where children are known to live and play, without robust safeguarding measures, risk assessments, and community awareness.
We call upon Falkirk Council to:
Reassess this specific placement urgently, prioritising the safety of children.
Review and reform its housing allocation policies where convicted sex offenders are concerned.
Engage transparently with affected communities when serious safeguarding issues arise.
This is not about punishment — it is about prevention, protection, and the wellbeing of our children and vulnerable residents.
Please sign this petition to show that child safety must come first — always.
