Re-Open the Tooting Bec and Tooting Broadway Roads

The Issue

The closed roads may not affect everyone, but an analysis conducted by the National Health Service (NHS) UK has confirmed that 1 in 5 people in the United Kingdom have a disability (NHS UK, 2020). That's roughly 20% of the population directly affected by these closures. The difficulty faced by disabled people navigating through city landscapes is already significant, let alone with additional road closures in place.

Furthermore, Tooting Bec and Tooting Broadway are central arteries of our local traffic. The local Tooting business economy also thrives on the openness of these roads. The closures thus impact not only the disabled community but also local businesses, creating a sorrowful ripple effect across our unique community.

We seek help to restore basic privileges that have been unexpectedly taken away. It is more than about roads; it is about providing a more accessible and inclusive environment for everyone, especially to those who rely on these roads the most. Join me in urging the local authorities to re-open the roads of Tooting Bec and Tooting Broadway. Please sign this petition.

Woodbury street- unable to turn left into the road - but we can turn right into the right
Nutwell street- unable to turn left into the road- but we can turn right into the right
Sellincourt road - unable to turn left into the road- but we can turn right into the right
Trevelyan road - unable to turn left into the road- but we can turn right into the right
Maybury street- road closed to cars going into and coming out of the road

You have restricted all of these roads and expect the congestion and emission levels to reduce in the tooting area. by closing all of these roads you have made it impossible to get around Tooting especially those who are elderly, disabled or have disabled children. Businesses have lost income due to the lack of access to Tooting. Whoever has made these restrictions must be held responsible and look into these.
