Re- Open Pablo Kisel Businesses
Re- Open Pablo Kisel Businesses
The Issue
To the Brownsville City Commission, City Administration, and Building Inspections Department:
We, the undersigned residents, employees, customers, and business owners of Brownsville, respectfully request that the City work with local businesses affected by occupancy permit enforcement to establish a fair and reasonable path toward reopening.
We recognize that occupancy permits and safety regulations exist to protect the public, and we support compliance with those requirements. At the same time, the recent closures have had a significant impact on business owners, employees, entertainers, vendors, and families who rely on these establishments for their livelihood.
Rather than prolonged closures that affect our local economy, we ask the City to consider:
* Establishing a temporary grace period for businesses actively working to achieve compliance.
* Expediting inspections and permit reviews to reduce unnecessary delays.
* Allowing conditional or temporary occupancy when legally appropriate and when no immediate life-safety hazards exist.
* Providing clear guidance and direct assistance so businesses understand exactly what is required to reopen.
* Working collaboratively with business owners to reach compliance instead of relying solely on closures whenever possible.
Brownsville’s small businesses contribute to our local economy, create jobs, generate tax revenue, and provide opportunities for countless families. We believe it is possible to uphold public safety while also helping responsible businesses return to operation as quickly as possible.
We respectfully ask the City Commission to place this issue on a public meeting agenda, hear from affected business owners and employees, and consider solutions that balance public safety with economic stability.
Together, we can protect our community while preserving the businesses that help make Brownsville thrive.
We respectfully request your consideration and action.
