Re-open Clissold Park Paddling Pool
The Issue
Re-open Clissold Park Paddling Pool
We the undersigned petition the council to Re-open Clissold park Paddling Pool.
For many years the Clissold Park paddling pool has been closed. In a city facing hotter summers every year, this small, fenced, dog free pool is a lifeline for local families, especially those without gardens or private outdoor spaces.
Families need safe, free places to play and cool down. Families want and need easy access, drop in, app free, inclusive spaces. The new splash pad does not cover the need of the community and given the volume of children, having the much loved old pool back is vital. This petition does not undermine the great work carried out by those who run the Clissold user group.
This is a matter of social justice in a rapidly gentrifying area. A pool would support children physical and mental health and align with Hackney and London's wider commitment to a 'green and blue' city.
We Residents are looking to the council to raise and apply for grants and budget for maintenance of the pool to make this essential facility in Hackney's busiest park available again.
