McMinnville High School has a diverse student body, many of whom are eager to engage with and understand different world cultures. However, despite this, the school currently does not offer an opportunity to study the Japanese language - a critical cultural and economic hub in the modern world. 

According to the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, learning a second language enhances cognitive and life skills. Plus, a 2017 report from the Modern Language Association found that enrollment in Japanese language courses in U.S. colleges increased by 3.1% between 2013 and 2016, highlighting the growing interest and importance of this language.

We believe that the introduction of a Japanese language course will significantly benefit the students at McMinnville High School, not only by providing an understanding of Japanese language and culture, but also by enhancing their futures via increased career and higher education opportunities.

Please join us in requesting the School Board of McMinnville High School to implement a Japanese language course for the benefit of our students. We urge you to sign this petition today.
