Thursday December 15th will see this month's Woodstock City Council debating the following motion:

WHEREAS at the regular meeting of Woodstock City Council held on October 21, 2021, Council directed to remove the benches and picnic tables in the downtown area until further notice; 

AND WHEREAS to reinstate benches and picnic tables ensures Woodstock’s downtown core be both accessible and inclusive to all members of our community;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that Woodstock City Council direct staff to reinstate all such benches in Museum Square immediately and all remaining benches and picnic tables in the downtown area in the Spring of 2023 following final snow removal activities.

At present, 2 delegations intend to speak to Council in regards to this motion - Mr. Fadel Zabian, and Mr. Arnold Spina - both property owners and businessmen with significant holdings in the downtown core. Both appear to intend to discourage City Council from re-instating benches/picnic tables at the present time.
