California faces unprecedented threats including record-breaking wildfires, floods, earthquakes, and  community emergencies that stretch our first responders to the limit.

The Governor already has the authority—under the California Military & Veterans Code—to organize a State Defense Force made up of trained civilian volunteers who can assist the National Guard and emergency agencies in times of crisis.

We’re asking Governor Gavin Newsom to re-activate the California State Defense Force (CSDF) so Californians can serve their communities in a lawful, transparent, and accountable way—helping save lives, protect property, and build resilience across the state.
