Dear Neighbors,

🚨 Immediate Action Needed: Contact Vestavia City Leadership!
Our petition was formally presented to Vestavia City Leadership on March 12, and they have agreed to meet internally and provide us with an update by early April. However, we must keep the pressure on to ensure they take real action and don’t delay a solution.

📞 Please call and email Vestavia City Leadership this week and next!

Let them know you fully support the petition and expect them to follow through with real action.
Express your concerns about safety, quality of life, and property values.
Ask them what solutions they are considering and remind them that we need results, not delays.

Here’s how to contact them:
📩 City Manager Jeff Downes – 205.978.0195  |  jdownes@vhal.org
📩 Mayor Ashley Curry – 205.490.4752  |  gpierce@vhal.org

  • Rusty Weaver – 205.957.7427  |  rweaver@vhal.org
  • Kimberly Cook – 205.807.0503  |  kcook@vhal.org

If enough of us reach out, they will have no choice but to act.

📢 Petition Update & City Response
On March 12, I formally presented our petition and survey results to Vestavia City Leadership. In response, they have agreed to meet internally to discuss potential solutions and will provide us with an update on their proposed ideas by early April.

🗣️ Summary of My Meeting with City Manager Jeff Downes
During my meeting with Jeff Downes, I made it clear that:
✔ This issue is not going away, and residents will continue to push for action.
✔ Mountain Brook must take responsibility for the traffic and safety issues they’ve created.
✔ Vestavia has leverage and must be willing to use it to force real change.
✔ The neighborhood strongly believes that without intervention, a tragic accident is inevitable.

Jeff acknowledged the valid frustration on both sides and agreed that this problem needs a real solution. However, as we know, talk is not enough. This is why your help is critical—the city needs to feel pressure from all of us.

What’s Next?
City Leadership will meet and provide us with an update by early April.
If their response is insufficient, we will escalate our efforts through media coverage, community meetings, and additional actions.

Thank you again for standing together on this. This only works if we keep pushing. Let’s make sure Vestavia follows through.
