Raise the minimum sentencing for the abuse of ALL animals

The Issue

Animals have as much rights as humans do on this planet. They suffer in silence when they are abused and are severely let down by the justice departments all over the world. They deserve better. We need to speak up for these beautiful, incredible creatures. Deterrents are needed, harder sentencing so people think twice before they act out horrible cruelty. Please sign this petition to raise the minimum sentencing on animal abuse; be the change you wish to see. At the moment, if you are convicted of an offence under the Animal Welfare Act 2096 you may have your animals taken away from you or be banned from keeping animals, or both; fined up to £20,000; or sent to prison for a maximum term of 51 weeks. We can achieve better than this. Animals deserve the same laws humans have.
