Raise teacher pay in Massachusetts

Raise teacher pay in Massachusetts
The Issue
As a student at Pentucket Middle School, I see firsthand how hard our teachers work every single day to help us succeed. They dedicate so much time to our future, but it is deeply discouraging to know they are not compensated fairly for their crucial role in our society. This unfair pay doesn’t just affect them—it directly impacts our education.
In Massachusetts alone, over 16,000 teachers feel underpaid. Nationwide, teachers earn 22% less than professionals in other fields with the exact same level of college education. When teachers are stressed about financial stability, it naturally affects the quality of our learning environment.
Research actually shows that a 10% increase in teacher salaries boosts student performance by 5% to 10%. When educators are paid adequately, they feel truly valued, can focus entirely on their students, and have the resources to build better classrooms.
Unfortunately, very few teachers make over $75,000, despite having one of the most important jobs in the world. Better pay is a win-win situation. It acknowledges their worth and directly benefits the students they teach every day.
If we fail to support our educators, we jeopardize our own education and the future of the Massachusetts community. Our teachers deserve fair compensation for their invaluable work.
Please sign this petition to advocate for better teacher pay in Massachusetts. Your support can help bring about much-needed change in our school system!
