Rainbow 6 Siege: Rated M, But Muted?

The Issue

Subject: From the Siege Community: Stop the Hypocrisy in Voice Chat Enforcement

To Ubisoft,

We’re speaking as a community of dedicated Rainbow Six Siege players—those who’ve invested thousands of hours, supported your seasonal content, and built friendships through tactical gameplay. We love the intensity, the realism, and the Operator personalities that make Siege unique. But we’re fed up with the double standard in how Ubisoft handles mature content.

Siege is rated M for a reason. The game includes blood, violence, and strong language. Operators swear. They shout profanities in combat. The tone is gritty and unapologetically adult. That’s part of what makes the game immersive.

So why are players being voice banned for using the same kind of language the game itself promotes?

We’re not talking about hate speech or harassment—those deserve moderation. We’re talking about everyday profanity. Words like “fuck” or “shit” that are already part of the game’s audio design. If an Operator can say it mid-match, why are we punished for expressing frustration or urgency in the same way?

This inconsistency is frustrating and unfair. It alienates mature players and undermines the very tone Siege is built on. If Ubisoft wants to enforce strict language rules, then it should also remove profanity from its Operators. But if it wants to embrace realism, then trust your community to handle mature language responsibly.

We’re asking for consistency. We’re asking for respect. And we’re asking Ubisoft to stop penalizing players for engaging with Siege in the way it was designed to be played.

Sincerely,

The Rainbow Six Siege Community
