Potential Amendment to the Transport Administration Act to Close Northern Line

Dear Northern railway supporters,

Good morning!

We shouldn't be under any illusion about what is in store for the northern rail line?  Last year both houses of NSW parliament passed an amendment to the Transport Administration Act (https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/bills/Pages/bill-details.aspx?pk=3787 to close sections of the Northern Rivers rail line. Please  read the amendment and understand that it not only allows the closure of the rail line but also to sell or dispose the land otherwise, remove the rail line etc.

Though it says that the land will remain in 'public ownership' by which I understand that it will be converted to be crown land, strengely the same amendment allows for its sale or disposal in otherways -perhaps by way of  leases.  This is not acceptable to us. At all times, the land in the northern rail line/corridor should be in the hands of 'a rail operator'. Government should not sell or dispose it to other (vested) interests.

Please contact our local MP Mr. Adam Marshall and even minister Paul Toole and state your displeasure if this is to happen to our northern rail lpine to construct the NE Rail Trail. His contact details are as follows:

The Hon. Adam Marshall, MP
Suite 1 Ground Floor

ARMIDALE NSW 2350
P: (02) 6772 5552
F: (02) 6772 5026
E: northerntablelands@parliament.nsw.gov.au

Please attend to this without delay.
