RECOGNISE, RESPECT and REWARD Queensland Catholic school employees

Teachers and support staff are fundamental to quality education in Queensland Catholic schools. Yet employers are failing to listen to their concerns about working conditions.
For the past 13 months, Queensland Catholic school employees have been negotiating for a new collective agreement, which determines their wages and working conditions.
Employers have repeatedly failed to listen to employees’ legitimate concerns about a number of issues.
Queensland Catholic school teachers are disadvantaged simply because of their postcode. Their colleagues teaching in New South Wales Catholic Diocesan schools currently receive $6,792 more per year (at the top step of the automatic scale). This inequality persists despite the fact Queensland and New South Wales Catholic schools have comparable funding and fee levels.
Workloads in Queensland Catholic schools have continued to increase, yet secondary teachers have not received one additional minute of planning, preparation and correction time (PPCT) since 1992.
Term time school officers work hard to support quality education in Queensland Catholic schools. Working term time means they are only employed during schools weeks (usually 40 weeks per year). In most other states, term time staff receive four weeks paid annual leave. Yet Queensland Catholic term time school officers are currently denied this community standard.
For these issues to change, Queensland Catholic school employees need your support. Sign this petition and make sure Queensland Catholic school employers learn the 3Rs: RECOGNISE, RESPECT, REWARD.
