COVID cases in Kingston are the worse they’ve been all pandemic, surpassing cities like Ottawa, currently with over 500 active cases and over 100 new cases a day. There are multiple suspected Omicron cases among students. Testing in Kingston takes over a week because it’s so booked up. Students have to sit in exam halls with HUNDREDS of other students while there are multiple outbreaks in the student community. Having exams in person put thousands of students at risk and likely means that many students won’t be able to see family who are particularly vulnerable to COVID over the holidays. This petition is a call for Queen’s to move the majority of exams online (and giving students the option to take exams in person should they feel comfortable) and listen to students for once.
