Police Beat for Withcott

The issue

Our peaceful little community nestled at the base of the Toowoomba range and the starting point to the Lockyer Valley, is currently in a housing boom. With new housing and subdivisions being approved on what seems to be a daily basis, this is inadvertently bringing with it crime and other social issues which stem from having a big community.

Currently, Withcott does not have a Police station/beat even though it centres a State Highway , the Warrego . This is forcing Residents  to rely on the Toowoomba or Helidon police to respond to calls.

Withcott has a population of 1844 ( 2016 census) and with it - a well sized Pub and bottle-o right door. With crime rates in our community on the rise, the residents of Withcott fail to see why the township of Helidon (with a population of 1059 (2016 census)) has a police station - yet our community does not.

I am petitioning to the Lockyer Valley state MP Jim McDonald to address this issue by either relocating the current Police Station from Helidon to Withcott or even better, opening a new station in the local area.

Law and order is a core belief of mine and the local families of the Lockyer Valley and I will make this a core issue in the way I vote in the next state and local elections.

Our families, homes and businesses are worth protecting!
