Firecrackers! They're beautiful, aren't they? they're super attractive to the human eye, however, were you aware about just how harmful they can be, to us humans and animals as well . Every year we come across the news of people getting injured or some accident taking place while lighting firecrackers.

These fun look at but hazardous things can worsen air pollution , cause respiratory problems , skin allergies and can be a reason for hearing disabilities in animals! if you have a pet you may have observed your pets change in behavior during Diwali, while we're having fun watching firecrackers , animals are probably cowering in fear,  shivering or hiding under furniture and they can also suffer from nervous breakdowns! Cows and buffaloes among other animals also get severely disturbed by bursting firecrackers and this can affect their production of milk.

To produce colour, when crackers are burst, radioactive and poisonous elements are used , when these compounds pollute the air , they increase the risk of cancer in humans , also , harmful fumes released while firing crackers can lead to miscarriages, that's why pregnant women are advised to stay indoors during Diwali, and as a lot of people say about this being a "Hindu tradition", please be aware of the fact that polluting our environment and hurting animals; others, is certainly not part of the Hindu culture!

Diwali is a festival where you spread joy and happiness not pollution and terror! So this Diwali, let's all of us pledge to avoid bursting firecrackers, and instead we can all dress up , decorate our house with colouful lights and be patakas that don't pollute or harm anyone in anyway!
