Fallen Police Officers Remembrance Wall Should Remain Where it is

Fallen Police Officers Remembrance Wall Should Remain Where it is
The Issue
For over six years, a teacher at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School has set up a remembrance wall outside of his classroom to honor the men and women of all races in our Country who have lost their lives in the line of duty as a police officer.
Every January that wall starts off as a blank slate and as Officers fall in the line of duty their photos are added to the wall. This teacher's wall has served to celebrate the lives of those who, like our honored veterans, gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect others.
It is with great disappointment and confusion that we learned today that this remembrance wall would be torn down after a complaint that the memoriam was racist, and made a student and a couple other teachers feel uncomfortable. How can we continue to unfairly demonize, demoralize, and create mass group hatred towards the men and women in blue?
The police have been targeted by politicians, the media, and members of the community as monsters. They sacrifice their families and own safety by choosing to be a police officer. While everyone else is running away from dangerous criminals and unimaginable violence, police officers run towards it- to protect and serve.
At some point, when will enough be enough? When will we start to run away with the masses and leave this career and our values behind? A group of people can only take continued slander and hatred so much longer. I fear the day when so many Americans get their wish and we are possibly removed from your communities, or we ultimately leave our careers. It's time to take a stand.
