Flag Day challenge

Notice anything strange in this photo from New Year's Eve, as we rang in Canada's 150th year? The flag atop the Peace Tower isn't red and white. It's blue--the flag of the governor general. As our sesquicentennial year began, the Canadian flag was missing from its normal perch. In its place was the flag of an envoy of a queen in England. Demeaning the national flag happens regularly, and is likely to recur on July 1st itself...unless we get the rules changed. Today, on Flag Day, we salute 52 years of the Maple Leaf and the courage of those who fought to give it to us in 1964. Let each of us take up this challenge: Share this petition with THREE people, and let them know signing it is an act of patriotism; that Canada's flag should never be forced to surrender its place. The more leaders hear from us, the more likely they are to review an antiquated policy in time for our biggest bash in recent memory. We are close to 200 signatories.
