Petition updatePut our forests first. Stronger national environmental laws to protect unique habitats#ForestsFirst: Morrison’s vote grab at the expense of our forests

I’m overwhelmed to see that more than 5,000 people have signed this petition within a week. This is a clear demonstration of how important forests are to Australians and I can’t wait to share this with all political candidates out there.

Please share the petition with your friends and family to help us reach 10,000 signatures

Just before Easter, the Morrison government announced a pledge of $220M to boost the Tasmanian native forestry industry - an industry that can only look profitable using their creative accounting. I’m campaigning for a government that invests money in transitioning those workers into regenerating our forests instead of destroying them.

I think you’ll be shocked by some of the facts revealed in this article by Adam Morton of The Guardian. The Morrison government’s commitment failings, the sheer amount of forest we’ve already destroyed and the volume in the firing line, the long list of species we’re pushing to extinction.

We need a government with long term vision, not band-aid measures. It’s time to put our forests first, to end destructive native forest logging and actively reverse the damage done. Every man, woman and child should sign this petition for stronger environmental protection laws.

Please share with everyone you know so that this issue comes front and centre of the public and candidates.

I have to say it’s encouraging that so many people have signed in such a short space of time, especially given the petition was launched just before the Easter break. Thank you to everyone who has added their support so far.

Remember, our beautiful Aussie wildlife can’t sign so we have to do it for them.

Warm regards,
Jorj
