Hi Everyone,
I wanted to let you know that October 14th is Winnie the Pooh's 99th birthday, marking nearly a century since British author, A.A. Milne, first introduced the beloved bear to the world.
The original book, Winnie-the-Pooh, was published in October 1926, bringing to life the adventures of Pooh and his friends in the Hundred Acre Wood. The stories were inspired by Milne’s son, Christopher Robin, and his collection of stuffed animals.
Pooh later became a global icon through Disney’s 1966 short film Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, where he was portrayed as Christopher Robin’s cuddly yellow bear in a red shirt, famous for his simple wisdom and endless love of honey.
Because of this milestone, this would have been the perfect time for Disney+ to add more Winnie the Pooh content, which is still missing. Some examples include:
- Winnie the Pooh and a Day for Eeyore
- Welcome to Pooh Corner
- Boo to You Too! Winnie the Pooh
- Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie
- Tigger & Pooh and a Musical Too
- Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too
- A Winnie the Pooh Thanksgiving
- Winnie the Pooh: Seasons of Giving
- Winnie the Pooh: Sing a Song with Pooh Bear
- Winnie the Pooh: Sing a Song with Tigger
- Winnie the Pooh: Good Day, Good Night
- Winnie the Pooh: Time to Rhyme
We need to make our voices heard to have the streaming platform add more nostalgic Disney content, especially of this beloved bear once and for all!
Speaking of 99, that number reminded me of a quote that appeared in the book, The House at Pooh Corner, as well as in the two movies, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin.
CHRISTOPHER ROBIN: Pooh, promise you won't forget about me, ever. Not even when I'm a hundred.
POOH: How old shall I be then?
CHRISTOPHER ROBIN: Ninety-nine.
POOH: I promise.
