The Issue

On May 11, 2026, in the heart of El Paso, a tragic event unfolded that left our community shaken to its core. Javier Arroyo committed a grave act of violence when he shot and almost fatally wounded our fellow citizen, Luis Luevano. Despite the seriousness of this crime, Arroyo's sentencing was surprisingly lenient. Instead of facing the full weight of justice, he received a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, which, shockingly, allowed him to walk free after paying a mere $15,000 bond. Now, as Arroyo roams freely around Las Cruces, our community is left in fear, questioning the system that was supposed to protect us.

The people of El Paso deserve better. It is an affront to justice that an individual who nearly took a life is allowed to continue living freely without facing a fair trial. We are demanding that Javier Arroyo's bond be immediately denied. We call upon the authorities to reconsider the charges and ensure that his actions are met with appropriate accountability. Cases of this gravity should not be brushed aside or dismissed with minimal consequences.

By signing this petition, you are standing with the people of El Paso, demanding that our voices be heard and justice pursued without delay. It is imperative that a swift and fair trial be conducted to ensure the safety and security of our community. Let us hold our justice system to its true purpose—protecting its citizens. Please sign this petition to demand the reconsideration of Javier Arroyo’s charges and the immediate denial of his bond. Together, we can ensure that justice is served.
