Our county is falling behind. Here is what we are asking our leaders to do about it.

Fauquier is one of Virginia's most beautiful counties. Rolling farmland, tight-knit communities, and a way of life worth protecting. But that way of life is under pressure, and the families who live here are feeling it every day.

Teachers are leaving for neighboring counties that pay more. Fire stations are understaffed. Law enforcement is stretched thin, and officers are being asked to do more with less. Roads need work. Families are squeezed by property taxes that keep climbing while county services stay flat. And too many young people who grew up here cannot find a career here, so they leave.

We are not asking for the impossible. We are asking for common sense.

We call on the Fauquier County Board of Supervisors to act:

Fund our schools. Pay teachers what they are worth, and stop losing our best educators to Loudoun, Prince William, and Culpeper.

Support our public safety personnel. Give our deputies and firefighters the resources and training they deserve. The people who protect our families should never be left short by a budget shortfall.

Protect our farms and rural character. Fauquier's agricultural identity is irreplaceable. We should protect it, and the families who have worked this land for generations.

Fix our infrastructure. Clean water, reliable utilities, and safe roads are not luxuries. They are the baseline of a functioning community.

Create local jobs. People who live here should be able to build a career here, not spend four hours a day commuting to do it.

How do we pay for this without raising taxes on families and seniors?

The answer is to grow our commercial tax base. Right now, homeowners carry too much of the load because businesses pay too little of it. Welcoming responsible commercial development, the kind that pays taxes, creates jobs, and gives back to the community, is the most fiscally sound way to fund the services we need without reaching deeper into the pockets of families and seniors.

Our county's planning has not kept up with the costs families face today. Other Virginia counties have found the balance between protecting what they love and funding what they need. Fauquier can too.

By signing this petition, you are telling the Board of Supervisors that you are paying attention, that you are organized, and that you are watching how they vote. The time for studies and delays is over. We are asking our leaders to put the long-term needs of this community first.
