The Issue

I see an unbearable parallel between the jungle justice meted out without due process, and the terrifying brutality animals face, more specifically dogs, in Nigeria. Dogs, sentient and capable of feeling the same pain humans do, are mercilessly shoved into sacks, tortured, and beaten to death, before finally being slaughtered for meat. This chilling cruelty tugs at my heartstrings, as it starkly reveals the society's disheartening disregard for life in all its forms.

In a report by World Animal Protection in 2020, it was noted that Nigeria ranks, alarmingly, among the bottom tier of the Global Animal Protection Index; a clear testament to the immense suffering animals are routinely subjected to. As sentient beings capable of suffering, animals are not mere meat-producing machines, but beings deserving of dignity, compassion, and fair treatment, much like humans do.

By signing this petition, together we can lobby for legal reforms and increased implementation of animal welfare laws and education. Not only would this put an end to the horrifying maltreatment of animals, but also elevate our society's ethical stance on the well-being of all living creatures.

Don't overlook this inhumane treatment. Please, make your voice heard. Sign this petition to bring an end to animal cruelty in Nigeria. Your one signature can spark a great change for these helpless creatures.
