Timothy Cregg was arrested for beating a puppy repeatedly in the head with a hammer, slashing his throat and throwing him in a dumpster. The 5-month-old pit bull puppy was found in the dumpster, shaking and bloodied. An animal-rescue organization took care of the puppy but couldn't save his life - he had to be euthanized due to the severity of the injuries. According to Cregg, he was upset because the dog had chewed on his comforter.

Cregg has been charged with felony animal cruelty, which is punishable by up to four years in prison. He is due in court on November 7th. A preliminary examination is scheduled for Nov. 14.
