Greetings NYSCOPBA Executive Board,

As you may already know, NYS Parole Officers are seeking to join a law enforcement union like the New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA). 

We’re writing to inform you on how this would be mutually beneficial. First, there is strength in numbers. Adding over 450 Parole Officers to your membership would generate over $300,000 per year in union dues. Furthermore, it would strengthen NYSCOPBA’s bargaining power at the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS).  

Second, media coverage of high profile incidents involving parolees would increase NYSCOPBA’s visibility nationally. 

Third, your fight to repeal or amend the HALT Act would be more visible if you combine “Less is More” to your agenda due to high profile crimes committed by parolees as a result of parole reform.
