Dear supporters,
On October 15, 2025, a parolee was shot and killed after meeting with his parole officer. Investigators said the shooting occurred in front of a state parole office in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx.
The shooting occurred at approximately 5:50 p.m. when three masked men ambushed the 27-year-old parolee near the intersection of Alexander Avenue and Bruckner Boulevard, firing multiple shots into his torso before fleeing eastbound on East 132nd Street.
Responding parole officers immediately called for backup from the 40th Precinct while attempting to control a growing crowd of shocked onlookers.
This is a reminder to all parole officers of how dangerous their job really is. Great job to the brave Bronx parole officers who responded to the scene and provided crowd control.
Unfortunately, we have yet to see a public statement regarding this incident from the union representing NYS parole officers, the Public Employees Federation (PEF).
It’s evident that parole officers need to have a serious conversation with PEF Parole Division 236 Council Leader, G. Lopez regarding joining the New York State Correctional Officers & Police Benevolent Association (NYSCOPBA) for better union representation.
Please email this update to PEF Council Leader G. Lopez at G.Lopez@pef.org and make your voices be heard.
In solidarity,
New York State Parole Officers
