New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced his resignation Tuesday after more than a decade in office as the state legislature pursued an impeachment inquiry and amid sexual harassment allegations.

Unlike NYSCOPBA, the Executive Board of the Public Employees Federation voted overwhelmingly to endorse Governor Cuomo in his re-election bid for a third term in office.

PEF President Wayne Spence said, ”Governor Cuomo has taken important steps to ensure that unions in New York State stay strong, like enacting changes to the Taylor Law to allow union access to members in the workplace and state tax deductibility of union dues. By standing with us in fighting attacks on organized labor, Governor Cuomo has shown us he not only talks the talk, but is walking the walk. Therefore, PEF is proud to endorse Governor Cuomo for another four years in office.”
