Urge A-State To Reverse Its Decision On The CR/NCR Policy

Urge A-State To Reverse Its Decision On The CR/NCR Policy

The Issue

During this pandemic, the student body has had to endure many abnormal phenomenon, causing the ability to learn to be affected. We experienced a tornado last year, a spike in COVID numbers last semester, as well as a freak winter storm this semester. All of these things have affected students' health resulting in an overall struggle to keep up this semester. Student burnout, lack of school provided accommodations, and poor school infrastructure are all things that have affected students, their work ethic, and their ability to keep up amidst this pandemic. When Provost Utter was emailed, his response was that A-State's decision to not reinstitute the CR/NCR policy was based on the fast that no transitions had occurred to solely online. Signing this petition shows Provost Utter, as well as the others in charge, that the issue was not solely the transition. Placing the transition as the sole reasoning for the implementation of this policy dismisses all of our struggles, which should all be properly addressed. While individually we maintain zero power, the hopeful outcome is that the overall support will show those in charge that our struggles don't lie solely on the transition aspect, rather the pandemic as a whole. A reimplementation of the CR/NCR policy could help alleviate stress, anxiety, depression. It could keep some in school due to financial hardships because they could maintain scholarships. We are struggling and we need to show those with power by using our voices. Please consider signing.
