Hi everyone
Thanks so much for all your support for our campaign and for signing and sharing our petition. Please keep sharing it if you can! We are so happy that we are nearly at 300 signatures!!
Things have been a bit quiet with updates as I have not been very well and the changing weather makes a lot of my symptoms worse, but I will send updates and add new videos whenever I can.
I am afraid we don’t yet have any exciting news yet, last month James went to the local councillors’ surgery to raise our case with them. Unfortunately, I wasn’t well enough to attend the meeting on the day.
James spoke with our local councillor Lynda Thorne, who is the cabinet member for housing on Cardiff Council. To begin with, she said there was little more she could do as a councillor and cabinet member, as council staff, not councillors themselves, make decisions about specific cases. James emphasised the extreme difficulties we are facing, together with my carers, who sometimes have to climb over things to get to other equipment, due to the limited space in our house for the equipment I need.
Councillor Thorne said she recognised the impact this situation is having on our lives and the importance of resolving the constant uncertainty we are dealing with every day.
Councillor Thorne said she would pass our details to council staff who are managing some new housing developments in Cardiff, which she believes have some properties which could potentially be adapted to meet my needs. We have not heard anything on this yet, but we are hoping for an update soon and will be making further contact with the council if we don’t hear anything.
Finally, we now have a “Katherine’s Accessible Housing Campaign” YouTube channel as well as the TikTok account. I hope to be able to keep both channels up to date with what is happening, so please subscribe to the YouTube channel if you haven’t already.
Thanks for your continuing support with signing and sharing the petition and subscribing to “Katherine’s Accessible Housing Campaign” on YouTube and TikTok, to help us get as many signatures as possible and keep up the momentum.
Best wishes,
Katherine and James
