Hi to all our supporters! 

Thanks for everyone’s support for this petition and the wider issues of the lack of accessible homes for those with complex needs and disabilities .

We have some amazing news, we have been offered and have accepted a three bedroom bungalow with an adapted bathroom- including a specialist bath. To say we are over the moon is an understatement. This house will change our lives and mean that I can live with dignity. I can bath again and will not have to rely on bed washing anymore. There is also plenty of room for my medical equipment including a standing frame (which can now be ordered as we have the space to use it safely). My care team will have more space to work, and much better equipment, and more floor space. 

This new bungalow is an exceptionally rare one, with high levels of adaptive equipment. I have essentially “won” a accessible housing “lottery”- albeit with a 4 year wait with no bath or shower. 
I’m incredibly grateful to have this new property to move into, but I feel that there definitely needs to be more properties built/ adapted to this level. Many families and individuals are stuck in inaccessible, inadequate homes that in no way meets their needs. This is not acceptable in a fair society. 

Even though I have got my new home, I am not leaving this issue. I will keep campaigning and putting pressure on those who make the decisions to improve access to accessible homes. 

These homes shouldn’t be as rarely available as a “wining the lottery” would be. They should be there for when people need them. 

We keep fighting- if it’s not accessible it isn’t acceptable !

Thanks for everyones support - we are moving in soon and will keep you all posted. When I have recovered from moving I am going on with campaigning into 2026.
