We, the B.Sc Nursing intern students of Uttar Pradesh, are raising our voice for a fair and dignified internship stipend.

Nursing interns work daily in general wards, ICUs, emergency units, operation theatres, labour rooms, and community postings. We perform 8-hour or longer clinical duties with mandatory 100% attendance, often without even medical leave provisions.

The workload is physically and mentally exhausting. Many of us spend entire shifts standing, assisting in patient care, handling emergencies, completing documentation, and supporting hospital staff — often without enough time to even sit. By the end of the day, we return exhausted, with severe leg pain and physical fatigue.

Despite contributing actively to the healthcare system, we nursing interns in Uttar Pradesh receive no stipend at all.

Meanwhile, several institutions and states across India have already recognized the contribution of nursing interns by providing financial support.

 For example:

• Delhi Government hospitals and nursing institutes recently revised nursing intern stipend to around ₹13,150/month

• AIIMS institutions also provide stipend support to nursing interns and trainees

• Multiple states across India provide financial assistance during nursing internships to support students during clinical training.

This clearly shows that providing stipend to nursing interns is both possible and necessary.

We are not asking for luxury — we are asking for basic recognition, dignity, and support for the work we already do every day in hospitals.

We demand:

• Fair internship stipend for B.Sc Nursing interns in Uttar Pradesh

• Timely monthly payment without delays

• Recognition of nursing interns as essential healthcare contributors

We request

to take immediate action on this issue.
