Provide Reliable Transportation for Cincinnati High Schoolers

The Issue

This is personal to me because I am raising three boys on my own. I gained custody of these children and don’t want my boys to become a statistic. How can a single parent get their kids to and school if I don’t have a car or need to be at work? How do the low income families transport their kids to and from school?

As a single parent working every day, don’t make me comfortable allowing any young kids to ride the Metro bus. To me feels very unsafe, especially for a 14-year-old child. To be standing at the bus stop early in the morning with strangers. To be riding the bus with strangers is a high rate now missing. I prefer my kids to be at the bus stop with children they know and their age.

Many parents in Cincinnati face similar challenges, lacking the means to transport their children to and from school. Reliable transportation is essential for ensuring that 9th through 12th graders can attend school regularly and safely. Without it, students are at risk of falling behind academically or even dropping out.

We urge the Cincinnati Public Schools and local government officials to address this issue by providing reliable transportation options for high school students. Please sign this petition to support our children's right to safe and dependable transportation!
