Many Muslims in Waltham Forest struggle to attend Friday (Jumu‘ah) prayers because parking restrictions are enforced during the short prayer period. With limited mosque locations and few practical alternatives, many worshippers must drive and then risk fines, stress, or missing their prayers altogether.

Jumu‘ah is a weekly religious obligation and an important part of community life. No one should have to choose between practising their faith and avoiding a parking penalty.

We are asking the London Borough of Waltham Forest to introduce free on-street parking on Fridays from 12:00pm to 2:30pm. This is a modest, time-limited change that would make a real difference for thousands of residents, while supporting fairness, inclusion, and respect for religious freedom.

This approach already works in some areas and would help maintain good community relations across the borough.
