Provide Adequate Office Space for Natural Science Faculty at PCC

Provide Adequate Office Space for Natural Science Faculty at PCC
The Issue
At Pasadena City College (PCC), approximately half of our Natural Science faculty are about to be moved crammed into 34 square foot offices. These spaces are too small to store their equipment or meet with students, which is detrimental to the quality of education provided. Other faculties on campus have access to reasonable office space, highlighting an unfair disparity. Originally, there was a plan for faculty to use additional student study spaces as offices - a plan that has been inexplicably altered leading to 18 faculty members sharing an office instead of the initial 11 or 7. This change negatively impacts both staff and students who choose PCC specifically for its renowned natural science and allied health programs. The current plan will make it difficult to maintain, let along grow these highly-sought out programs. Students commute for miles to come to our campus. They deserve faculty who are at their best. We urge PCC administration to reconsider this decision and find alternative solutions that respect the needs of our educators and maintain our reputation as a leading institution in these fields. Please sign this petition if you believe in fair treatment and quality education at PCC.
