Millions of children across the country are now on their March break... Families across Canada are finding ways to spend time together...but, it is also a period when many children spend more time online.
The internet offers great educational resources-but doing so is not without risk. Parents' resources and ability to monitor and control potentially harmful content are limited- which is why it is so important that Canadians help to get the message across to the government that we not only WANT but NEED Bill S210 to pass.
Thank you for having signed this petition- Please now share it and encourage others to sign on. Help us meet our goal this week of reaching 12,000 signatures! It is critical that the government passes S210. We need for the government to prioritize our children's safety online.
The recently introduced Online Harms Bill C63- has NO mention of age verification measures to protect kids online from age-inappropriate content. Even if it had, it has a long to go to being implemented. Bill S210 is one voting session away from being passed into law. Lets make sure that happens!
FACT: A UK study revealed that 60% of all children’s first exposure to pornography was unintentional and that the average age of first exposure to adult content is between the ages of 9 and 11 years of age -- with some children as young as 7 years old* With over 2 million Canadian children currently on break who are under the age of 11 and have access to the internet- this is alarming!
Show your ongoing support for a safer digital environment for kids 24/7 - not just future March Breaks! Help spread the word...
