Request for Protection and Support for the Iranian Women's Football Team

Dear President of the Football Federation Australia,

We, a group of Iranian physicians practicing in Canada, are writing to express our deep concern regarding the current situation of the Iranian Women’s National Football Team currently present in Australia.
Given the ongoing conflict and the tense political circumstances in Iran, we are particularly worried about the safety and well-being of these athletes should they be forced to return to Iran. Reports indicate that the team members refrained from singing the official anthem of the Islamic Republic during their recent match. Such actions, while reflecting personal conscience, could unfortunately expose them to serious risks upon their return.

In light of these circumstances, we respectfully request that the relevant Australian authorities consider taking measures to prevent any forced return of these players to Iran and to explore humanitarian protections that may allow them to remain safely in Australia.

As Iranian physicians living and working in Canada, we are prepared to collectively support these athletes financially and socially during their stay, including assistance with living expenses and integration, until the current crisis in Iran is resolved.

We sincerely appreciate any support and humanitarian consideration you may extend to these young women. Your actions could play a meaningful role in protecting individuals who may face danger for expressing their beliefs.
Thank you for your attention and your commitment to human dignity and safety.

Respectfully,

A Group of Iranian Physicians in Canada
