Petition: Protect Reproductive Rights and Safety in New Brunswick

Petition: Protect Reproductive Rights and Safety in New Brunswick
The Issue
New Brunswick is the only province in Canada without “bubble zone” protections around reproductive health facilities. This failure leaves women, girls, and gender-diverse people vulnerable to harassment, intimidation, and public shaming simply for seeking essential healthcare.
In Miramichi, anti-abortion groups have installed a large billboard and staged regular roadside demonstrations. These actions spread misinformation, re-traumatize survivors, stigmatize youth, and threaten the privacy and safety of those accessing reproductive care.
Across Canada, provinces including British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland & Labrador have enacted legislation that protects patients and healthcare workers from targeted harassment. New Brunswick should do no less.
We, the undersigned, call on Premier Susan Holt and the Government of New Brunswick to:
- Enact legislation creating safe-access “bubble zones” around all reproductive health facilities in the province, ensuring that patients and providers are free from harassment, intimidation, or obstruction.
- Amend municipal bylaws in Miramichi to prohibit harmful and misleading public advertising targeting reproductive healthcare, including the current anti-abortion billboard.
- Affirm the right to safe, stigma-free reproductive healthcare as a matter of equality, dignity, and human rights for all New Brunswickers.
New Brunswickers deserve the same respect, privacy, and protection as every other Canadian.
It’s time to make our province safer for those seeking care — and for those providing it.

Together, we can ensure that reproductive rights and safety are protected in New Brunswick.
