Dear Supporter,

Thank you so much for adding your voice and signing the petition to protect the Watery Hill Steps. Your support is crucial in our collective effort to defend this piece of Drogheda's heritage.

Because of your commitment, we are sending a powerful message to our local representatives that our public spaces are not for sale. The Watery Hill Steps are more than just a pathway; they are a vital daily link for pedestrians, a meeting place where people all ages connect, and an important piece of our local history that must be preserved for future generations.

Residents from Mount St Oliver Street,Congress Avenue,Priest Lane,Marian Park,Cherrybrook Drive have officially submitted a formal request to the Louth County Council.

This request calls on the Council to:

  • Designate the Watery Hill Steps as a Protected Structure to secure its long-term preservation.
  • Ensure the structural safety and permanent public access to the Steps for everyone.
  • Improve traffic conditions in the streets leading to the Steps(or implement plans from 2022) making the area safer for pedestrians and residents alike.

This formal request is a key part of our strategy, but the petition remains important. It demonstrates to the councillors and the Council officials that this is not just the view of a few individuals, but a widely supported community campaign. Every signature adds weight to our demand for action.
