Following our community campaign, Tendring District Council is proposing to designate Tye Field on Grange Road, Lawford, as a “Safeguarded Open Space" in the Local Plan.
What does this mean?
Safeguarding protects the field from being developed. It ensures that this vital green space remains open, protected, and available for our community to enjoy for years to come.
Why we need your signature right now:
While the Council has taken this first step, we know that Welbeck (the developer) will push back hard to get this proposal reversed. We cannot let that happen. We need to show overwhelming public support to safeguard Tye Field.
If we don't act now, we risk losing this field forever.

We call on Tendring District Council to resist and defend any attempts by any party to change the proposed designation of Lawford Tye Field as a "Safeguarded Open Space" in the Submission Version of the TENDRING DISTRICT LOCAL PLAN REVIEW 2026-2043 AND BEYOND, which is wholeheartedly supported by the Lawford community and far beyond.
