Protect the trees and roly-poly hills at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park

Protect the trees and roly-poly hills at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park
The Issue
RCT County Borough Council are requesting funding to make alterations to the area of the former ‘pitch and put’ site to create an events space.
We the undersigned want the following assurances.
- that no healthy tree in the park will be removed or harmed.
- that the public will be consulted before any plans are confirmed or alteration work started.
The area is home to a beautiful Lime/Lindon tree, a large Beech and a number of Mountain Ash and Crab-apple trees. Each supporting it’s own eco system of insects, birds, fungi mosses, lichens and more as well as providing the oxygen we all need to breathe and the photosynthesis to combat climate change. These trees are all at risk as the plans stand.
See point 6 on the cabinet agenda from 15th May https://rctcbc.moderngov.co.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=132&MId=50004178&Ver=4&LLL=0
In the outline plans RCT stated that this is an ‘underused amenity’. But any visit to the park on a sunny day will prove that the area is well used for picnics, dog walking, friends and families gathering with bats and balls. And of course all of the hills for children to roll down!
We need assurances now before any work begins.
