I am a regular at The Rosebank Cottage, a beloved cafe in our community of Grantham Farm, NSW. This place is not just a cafe, it's the heart of our neighbourhood. The location is perfect, the food is delicious, the staff are friendly and welcoming, and above all else - it fosters an amazing sense of community.

However, this cherished local cafe faces challenges that threaten its existence. We must ensure that it remains as our neighbourhood cafe and that the tenant, its staff and the business are given every opportunity to succeed and are supported to succeed.

The hospitality industry in Australia has been hit hard by recent events. According to Australian Bureau of Statistics data from 2020-2021 (ABS), over 5% of cafes have closed their doors permanently.

We don't want The Rosebank Cottage to become another statistic. We believe in treating everyone involved with respect - from those who brew your morning coffee to those who manage the business operations behind-the-scenes.

This petition calls on Mr Warren Kirby, Minister for Riverstone, the restaurant and catering association and the northwest business chamber to

1) Take action to protect this family owned small business from profit seeking businessmen.

The tenants will only feel comfortable and safe to continue their business if there is a respectful relationship and there isn’t unnecessary intervening that disrupts their business operations.
