I have started this petition asking the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners to deny the proposed Enclave development and to prioritize responsible, well-planned growth that keeps pace with the needs of our community.

This petition is not about opposing all growth. Growth is inevitable, and responsible development can benefit a community. However, growth should not come at the expense of public safety, mobility, infrastructure, natural resources, or the quality of life of the people who already live here.

Like many residents, I am deeply concerned about the potential impact this project could have on St. Johns County—not only today, but for generations to come.

Our Roads Are Already Strained

Consider the traffic we already experience every day.

Nocatee Parkway is frequently backed up. U.S. 1 regularly experiences congestion. Palm Valley Road can already be difficult to navigate. Davis Park becomes extremely busy during youth sporting events, and getting to and from our neighborhoods—or even across the bridge to A1A—often takes much longer than it should.

Now imagine adding thousands of additional daily vehicle trips to an already strained road network.

Many residents are concerned that this development could significantly increase congestion, travel times, and pressure on surrounding roadways if adequate infrastructure improvements are not completed first.

This is not only about the weekday commute.

Think about weekends, when families are driving to youth sports, heading to the beach, visiting local restaurants, attending community events, or simply running errands. Traffic is already at its heaviest during many of those times.

Additional large-scale development without corresponding infrastructure improvements could make those everyday trips even longer, more frustrating, and potentially less safe. It could also make it more difficult for residents and visitors to travel between our communities, the beaches, local businesses, and other destinations throughout the area.

The Concerns Extend Beyond Traffic

Residents are also concerned about the additional pressure this development could place on:

Our schools
Emergency services
Roads and intersections
Water resources
Utilities and drainage systems
Parks and recreational facilities
Public safety
The remaining natural areas that make this part of St. Johns County so special

Once roads become gridlocked, natural areas are cleared, and large developments are built, those decisions cannot easily be undone.

The choices made today will shape St. Johns County for generations.

This Is About Responsible Growth

We respect private property rights. However, private ownership does not guarantee approval of every proposed development.

Local elected officials have a responsibility to carefully evaluate whether a project is compatible with the surrounding community and whether the necessary roads, schools, emergency services, utilities, water resources, and other infrastructure are prepared to support it.

Growth should improve our communities—not outpace the systems and resources that current and future residents depend on.

Communities throughout Florida and across the United States are facing similar challenges as rapid development places increased pressure on infrastructure, natural resources, and local quality of life.

This petition represents a broader principle: residents deserve a meaningful voice in the decisions that shape the future of their communities.
