The Issue

For generations, I.M. Marsh Campus (Liverpool John Moores University) has been at the heart of our community, a place where sport, education, and community life have thrived together. It has provided vital opportunities for residents of Mossley Hill and the wider Liverpool area to engage in sport, stay active, and build positive lasting connections. But now, its future is under threat following LJMU’s recent announcement that it is looking to sell the site.

There are growing concerns that the site could be lost to a housing development, placing further strain on local infrastructure and erasing a key community asset. Increased traffic congestion, pressure on public services, and the loss of dedicated sports facilities would have a lasting detrimental impact on our area. And all this in the context of the possible sale of nearby University of Liverpool Carnatic Halls for residential development.

That is why the Mossley Hill Residents Association (MHRA) is standing up for our community, engaging with Liverpool John Moores University, Liverpool City Council, Sport England and other agencies to ensure that local voices are heard. We believe I.M. Marsh must remain a hub for sport and recreation, not become another housing estate. How You Can Help
