This Ancient Valley, formed in the Ice age, has , over the thousands of years evolved a unique and diverse Eco -System. The Bio Diversity cannot be improved upon. The Valley is teeming with wildlife. From Deer and Badgers to the smallest of creatures. The Cot Stream runs through its base and supports both the wildlife and varied plants which thrive here. This incongruous pond, excavated without planning permission in an AONB area and Word Heritage site , is proported  to add to the diversity in the Valley. It remains empty for many months of the year, a dry shell  even in times of the heaviest rainfall. It abuts the Cot Stream and many unacceptable ways have been used to fill it, by diverting the stream water into it. This depletes the stream levels and affects the creatures in and around the stream . It affects migratory fish from heading upstream when the water levels are reduced so spawning and Elvers migrating cannot take place . This is an ill conceived idea which should not be allowed. Retrospect Applications which drag on for almost 3 years in a situation such as this are totally unacceptable. We are constantly told Nature is under threat , yet still things like this are allowed to happen. It must stop.
