The Issue

We may not live in Swansboro, but we care deeply about its future.

Whether we’re visitors, former residents, part-time residents, nearby neighbors, or here on vacation — we all recognize Swansboro’s unique charm and believe it’s worth protecting.

We stand in solidarity with Swansboro residents to preserve the town’s natural landscapes, rural character, and coastal heritage. The open fields, working farmland, historic downtown, and vital wetlands are not just scenic — they are essential to the town’s identity and environmental health.

We oppose the rezoning and overdevelopment of these sensitive areas. Replacing Swansboro’s remaining green space with high-density development would erase the very qualities that make this place so special.

This petition calls on town leaders to protect the remaining Rural/Agricultural and Conservation Priority areas, as designated in the town's Land Use Plan — not only for those who call Swansboro home, but for all of us who love it.
