Dear Supporters,

I am reaching out to you with a plea for help to protect my girlfriend Claire's almost 13-year-old daughter, Summer, from a situation that is as unjust as it is heart-wrenching. Claire is now facing criminal charges for refusing to force her own child to leave a secure environment and return to a place where she feels threatened and unsafe.

Summer, who was under the protective wings of our family, was forcibly taken from a public location where she had cooperatively gone as specified. Despite the order stating that if she wasn't there by 6pm she would be "apprehended," three large policemen grabbed her and dragged her away without necessity, following the manipulative demands of her abusive father. This act of violence was unjust and unnecessary.

Now, Summer is being held against her will with her abusive father and has been forced and manipulated to write her mother a letter saying it will be okay if Claire follows the order. This coercion is a clear violation of Summer's rights and well-being.

The orchestrator of her removal, her father, aims to further displace her to Nova Scotia. His overbearing control, hidden beneath a loving veneer, is the root cause of Summer's unsettled life. Yet, instead of addressing his destructive behavior, the legal system has turned against the protective mother, Claire, accusing her of protecting her child's mental well-being and safety.

Summer's simple wish for a comfortable, stable environment during visitations is being ignored, exposing profound flaws in our legal system.

This situation isn't just about Summer and Claire. It's about every child who is stripped of their safety and silenced by the very people and protocols meant to protect them. We need to bring attention to our story and advocate for the reform of legal practices that fail to prioritize a mature minor's emotional and physical safety.

What We Are Asking For:

Immediate Protection for Summer: Ensure her safety and well-being by preventing any further forced relocations that compromise her sense of security.

End Coercive Control: Recognize and address coercive control in custody arrangements, putting children's mental health and safety first.

Reform Reunification Practices: Abolish unethical reunification camps that traumatize children and prioritize genuine, safe environments for their development.
