Protect Seafarers in Conflict Zones

Protect Seafarers in Conflict Zones
The Issue
Seafarers Are Workers, Not Casualties of War
Protect Seafarers Trapped in the Gulf Crisis and Create Permanent Safety Rules for Conflict Zones (https://www.fsui.org)
Thousands of seafarers are working in the Gulf region and conflict-affected waters, far away from their homes and families. They are there to earn an honest living and keep global trade moving. They did not create this crisis. Yet they are the ones paying the price.
During the recent Gulf conflict, many seafarers faced:
Fear of missile and drone attacks | Ships stranded for weeks | Lack of clarity on evacuation | Communication breakdown with families | Stress, trauma, and uncertainty | Delayed wages and financial hardship | Shortage of food, water, or essentials in some cases | No clear compensation assurance in case of death or serious injury
“A seafarer is a worker, not a soldier.” - They should not be abandoned in a war zone.
This petition is not only for those affected today. It is for every seafarer who may face such danger tomorrow.
We Demand Immediate Action
- Safe Evacuation & Repatriation Framework
- Protection Before Profit
- Emergency Compensation Mechanism
- Welfare & Communication Rights
- Accountability of Shipowners & Manning Agencies
- Global Rules for Future Conflicts
Seafarers & Families: If you are a seafarer, family member, or maritime worker affected by the crisis, please complete our short survey here,
The world depends on seafarers for fuel, food, medicine, and trade. When crisis comes, they must not be forgotten.
Today we speak for those trapped at sea. | Tomorrow we build a safer system for all. Sign this petition. Share it widely. Stand with seafarers.
Initiated by The Forward Seamens union of India (FSUI) (https://www.fsui.org) in solidarity with seafarers and their families.
Supported by those who believe human life must come first.
