The issue

Australia is home to some of the most unique and diverse wildlife in the world. From the iconic koalas and kangaroos to the lesser-known bilby and numbat, our country's fauna play a crucial role in the balance of our ecosystems. However, they are facing unprecedented threats from human activity, habitat destruction, climate change, and invasive species.

Victoria is authorising the killing of large numbers of native animals including kangaroos, wombats, and native birds under wildlife control permits.

Many Victorians believe there must be a more humane and scientifically balanced approach.

We call on the Victorian Government to:

• prioritise non-lethal wildlife management
• increase habitat protection
• improve transparency around actual kill numbers
• invest in humane alternatives
• commission independent ecological reviews

Australia’s native wildlife deserves protection, compassion, and long-term stewardship — not routine large-scale lethal control.

We urge Premier Jacinta Allan and the Victorian Government to rethink these policies. Please send an email to her jacinta.allan@parliament.vic.gov.au requesting to stop this barbaric decision (https://www.vic.gov.au/authorities-control-wildlife-2025 ).

By signing this petition, you can help urge the Australian government to take immediate and meaningful action to protect our unique wildlife. Together, we can ensure that future generations inherit a healthy and vibrant natural heritage. Join us in this critical effort. Please sign and share this petition today.
